Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a diploma of English literature. Mitchell began working as a TV and radio reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. In 1976 she was a part of the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). In Washington, she was appointed general correspondent by NBC News two year later. In 1981 began reporting on the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was appointed Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and the chief foreign affairs reporter in 1994 for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a panelist for the TV program Meet the Press and also was the host for the program. Mitchell was a panelist in the presidential debates in 1988 in the debate between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan who was former chairman at Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government to recognize her excellence in journalism. In 2004 The Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her contributions to protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell reported on in the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 in the two years that Ronald Reagan served as president. Mitchell covered a number of noteworthy stories over the years, including the tax reforms, budget reforms, and the Iran Contra scandal. She traveled frequently with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
